Shannon Airport - Jenny Lauren visits

A NIECE of fashion icon Ralph Lauren has denied getting drunk and assaulting a flight attendant before the plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Shannon, despite pleading guilty to the offence just a week ago.

Jenny Lauren (41) has spoken out for the first time since her appearance in Ennis District Court last week and has accused the airline of lying about what happened.
During her court appearance, Jenny Lauren admitted verbally abusing several members of the Delta Airline cabin crew and pushing one member of staff up against the aircraft wall.
“What Delta has said has been almost all lies,” she told the New York Post’s Page Six show-business column.

“I would never hurt anybody. I was not intoxicated, I did not push anyone,” she added.
She also claimed she was the ‘real victim’ of the incident on the plane from Barcelona, Spain, scheduled to arrive in JFK airport, New York.
The plane was forced to turn around and make an unscheduled stop at Shannon Airport, Clare.
Speaking about the incident, Jenny said the crew aboard the flight ‘threatened’ her.
“I stood up for myself to one stewardess who was rude and unkind and the next thing you know, they were landing the plane,” she wrote in an email to the New York Post.
Ms Lauren flew home less than 24 hours after she walked free from Ennis District Court following being convicted and ordered to pay €2,000 in relation to an air rage offence.
Outlining the facts behind the incident on board the JFK bound, Inspector Tom Kennedy told the court that Ms Lauren called one female member of cabin crew, Jennifer Simpson “a fat, ugly, unhappy, blond b****” and told another female staff member, Constance Topping that she was ‘a f****** ugly, blond bitch”.
On a cocktail of prescribed medicine and alcohol, Ms Lauren pushed Ms Topping hard up against the wall of the aircraft.
The incident arose over Ms Lauren having problems with her reclining seat.
The costs of the diversion to Delta Airlines totalled over $43,000 and Ms Lauren may yet face civil proceedings over her causing the breach of the peace.
This was hinted at in court by her solicitor, Sharon Curley who told the court that that Ms Lauren "does feel very responsible and very remorseful and she is aware that the element of compensation that is something she may have to face, possibly in another forum.”
